BIG has collaborated with the government to advance the IDA Platform, enhancing industrial competitiveness. This energy efficiency analysis tool will encourage EECi to become the future industrial zone.
Mr. Piyabut Charuphen, Managing Director of Bangkok Industrial Gas Company Limited (BIG) – Thailand’s innovative industrial gas solutions –, revealed that BIG had participated in the signing ceremony between the government and private companies to upgrade Thailand’s industrial sector to Industry 4.0. It was a collaboration to drive an “IDA or Industrial IoT and Data Analytics Platform” that would link and analyze information from production machinery to improve efficiency and enhance energy saving. The IDA platform would respond to the urgent necessity of SME’s in the manufacturing sector to adapt to the changing environment after the Covid-19 crisis.
“It was the first time in Thailand that we had the virtual signing ceremony of the multilateral collaboration via Webex. Dr. Suwit Maesincee, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), presided in the event and declared the intention of the joint collaboration. The aim is to upgrade Thailand’s industrial sector to Industry 4.0 and support the development of the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation or EECi which would promote the strategic industries in the Eastern Economic Corridor or EEC,” said Mr. Piyabut Charuphen.
BIG is one of the companies that utilize such technology and innovation to increase industrial production efficiency, reduce production cost and enhance competitiveness in the volatile global economy after the Covid-19 impact. The IDA platform will encourage future expansion of the industrial sector which has a tendency to increase their investment in Thailand, particularly strategic industries. BIG will be one of the platform developers to introduce this technology and innovation to industrial customers. The mutual aim is to install the IDA platform in 10 pilot factories within one year and expand to over 500 factories in the next two or three years.
The IDA platform is the system that uses technology and innovation as important tools for industrial entrepreneurs to track and monitor each production process precisely in real-time. The industrial data analytics will help reduce loss and production cost. All information will be collected and stored in the Cloud system as a database for efficiency analysis and further decision to bring in the new innovation to increase industrial production efficiency in the future.
“The IDA platform will be one of the approaches to drive EECi to become EEC’s new innovative zone that is appropriately equipped with an innovation ecosystem, encouraging research and development (R&D) and innovation that involve the government, private-sector organizations, universities and local communities. It will advance the existing industries and encourage new strategic industries. The ultimate goal is to transform Thailand into an innovative country and lift up local people’s quality of life with technology and innovation, which will lead to the sustainable development in the future,” Mr. Piyabut Charuphen said.
