Baan Dusit, Bangkok – 4 October 2024

BIG, a climate technology company, today announced a partnership with Aapico Hitech Public Company Limited (AH), a global automotive parts manufacturer, to use BIG’s low-carbon argon in the production of automotive parts. This marks the first time in Thailand that low-carbon argon has been used in the automotive parts manufacturing industry, a significant step towards carbon neutrality.

This collaboration aligns with the shared commitment and vision of both companies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. BIG, with its expertise in industrial gases, recognizes the potential of low-carbon argon to reduce emissions, while Aapico is committed to becoming a leader in environmentally friendly automotive parts manufacturing. This partnership combines the expertise of both parties to drive Thailand towards its carbon neutrality goal by introducing innovative low-carbon argon technology into the automotive parts industry, in line with global market trends that prioritize sustainability and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

Mr. Piyabut Charuphen, Managing Director of BIG, said, “As a pioneer in energy transition, BIG is committed to driving innovation in climate technology across various industries under our ‘Generating a Cleaner Future’ business strategy. Our collaboration with Aapico marks the first time in Thailand’s automotive parts industry to use low-carbon argon in the production process. The low-carbon argon supplied by BIG has been certified by Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) (TGO) to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 50% compared to conventional argon production processes. By using BIG’s low-carbon argon, Aapico can effectively reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, making its automotive parts more environmentally friendly and competitive in the global market, which places a strong emphasis on sustainability and carbon taxes.”

Mr. Yeap Swee Chuan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aapico Hitech Public Company Limited, added, “Aapico is committed to being a leader in sustainable automotive parts manufacturing. This collaboration with BIG aligns with Aapico’s mission to create environmentally friendly products. The use of low-carbon argon from BIG will help reduce carbon emissions in the production process and elevate the quality of our products to be internationally recognized. The company has a strategy to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in both direct and indirect production processes, as well as promote the use of energy efficiency.”
