BIG, a Climate Tech Company, participated in a seminar and shared its perspectives on the topic of “Government Regulations to Drive the Policy on Promoting the Use of Hydrogen and Ammonia as Fuel.” The seminar was held in Meeting Room 3, Energy Complex Building B, Bangkok, and via electronic media through Zoom Meeting.
At this seminar, Mr. Pongsak Luarngchindarat, Climate Technology Deputy Director of BIG, representing the Hydrogen Thailand Association, joined representatives from the Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO), the Department of Energy Business (DOEB), and other relevant agencies. They collectively discussed approaches to regulating and promoting the adoption of hydrogen and ammonia as fuel in Thailand.
The objective of this seminar was to study the feasibility and suitability of utilizing hydrogen and ammonia, which are carbon-free fuels, in Thailand’s energy sector. This aligns with the National Energy Plan (NEP), which emphasizes clean energy power generation, promotes carbon emission reduction in the energy sector, and aims for Carbon Neutrality. The discussion considered suitable applications within the Thai context, such as their use as fuel in Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) and electricity generation from natural gas blended with hydrogen.
Furthermore, the seminar provided a platform for participants from various sectors to share their opinions and suggestions. This aims to ensure that the implementation of policies promoting the use of hydrogen and ammonia as fuel in Thailand is efficient and consistent with the country’s circumstances.
