BIG Unveils Hydrogen for Mobility to Accelerate the Low-Carbon Society at the “Hydrogen Symposium 2023”

Mr. Piyabut Charuphen, Managing Director of Bangkok Industrial Gas Co., Ltd. (BIG), Mr. Ninnart Chaithirapinyo, Chairman of Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., Mr. Yuttana Suwannachot, Executive Vice President of the PTT Innovation Institute, PTT Public Company Limited, and Mr. Shotaro Sano, Commercial Attaché of the Embassy of Japan, Thailand, along with other high-level representatives from various organizations and government agencies, gathered at the “Hydrogen Symposium 2023” to exchange knowledge and gain a better understanding of hydrogen technology. The seminar, themed ‘Gearing towards Carbon Neutrality with Hydrogen Society’, highlighted successful hydrogen projects from both domestic and international organizations, emphasizing hydrogen’s potential to become a new alternative energy for Thailand’s carbon-neutral goals. The seminar took place at the Ballroom, Holiday Inn Pattaya on February 23, 2023.

Mr. Piyabut Charuphen, Managing Director of BIG, Thailand’s leading in Innovative Industrial Gas and Climate Technology Company, and President of the Hydrogen Thailand Club in 2022, shared his vision to promote hydrogen as a viable alternative and environmentally friendly energy source through the implementation of technology and collaboration of various organizations. He also provided an overview of activities and cooperation with various agencies over the past year before passing the position of President of Hydrogen Thailand Club in 2023 to Mr. Ninnart Chaithirapinyo, Chairman of Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., to continue the mission of commercializing hydrogen as a viable alternative energy of the future.

At the symposium, BIG presented a project on low-carbon hydrogen production that is already being implemented around the world by Air Products, BIG’s parent company in the USA.

Furthermore, BIG showcased its Hydrogen for Mobility (H2fM) innovation by inviting visitors to the first Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) prototype station in Southeast Asia and Thailand, located in Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. The company also demonstrated the use of hydrogen energy for forklifts, igniting the conceptualized use case of developing an ecosystem centered on the use of hydrogen energy in the country’s transportation and industrial sectors.
