Bangkok Governor & the U.S. Ambassador of Thailand Jointly introduces Climate Technology from Oxygen to improve Water Quality at Benjakitti Park

Mr. Piyabut Charuphen, Managing Director of BIG, welcomed Mr. Chadchart Sitthipunt, Bangkok governor, and Mr. Robert F. Godek, the U.S. ambassador of Thailand to promote the use of innovative climate technology to improve the water quality in Benjakiti Park on March 4, 2023

One of BIG’s Climate Technologies is the attempt to utilize oxygen innovation to improve water quality. The project is a collaboration between BIG and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Drainage and Sewerage Department. The project aims to address declining quality of the water in Benjakitti Park’s reservoir, which receives water from Phai Singto canal that may have an impact on the ecology as well as people who implement the park’s facilities due to odor. As Thailand’s leading Innovative Industrial Gas and Climate Technology Company, BIG recognize the importance of environmental care in line with the company’s mission to contribute to sustainable societies and the world. Advanced innovative technologies from the United States, specifically Oxygen Aeration, are being utilized to enhance and improve the water quality in the Benjakitti Park’s reservoir. This advanced technology aims to meet the required standards before releasing water into the reservoir in front of Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), which will continue to serve as a vital water source for Benjakitti Park.

Air Products, the US-based parent company, is the source of the Oxygen Aeration innovation. The technology is now being implemented for the first time in a social setting after being extensively used in various industrial sectors. With an investment value of over 5 million baht, it helps infuse oxygen into the water, reducing water pollution and odor issues. The system is controlled automatically to maintain a dissolved oxygen level of no less than 5 milligrams per liter (DO ≥ 5). Additionally, BIG has also incorporated digital technology for real-time monitoring of the dissolved oxygen levels in the water, allowing for automated oxygen infusion control and enabling the system to operate autonomously.

Additionally, the oxygen innovation used in this project adheres to the same requirements as those used in hospitals. This ensures confidence among the public who utilize the services, as it emphasizes the commitment to safety and security. Furthermore, it also reinforces the mission to bring Thailand closer to achieving Net Zero.
