BIG gets ready to support the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation (DRRAA) with dry ice. The project will facilitate rainmaking in Eastern Thailand to help with the clearing air pollution in Bangkok and surrounding areas.
Mr. Piyabut Charuphen, Managing Director of Bangkok Industrial Gas Co., Ltd., Thailand’s Innovative Industrial Gas Solutions, said “Partly of the dry ice remains in stock since the corporate social responsibility program from last year when BIG celebrated its 30th anniversary campaign. Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation (DRRAA) has been taking dry ice to help generate artificial rain in the drought-affected regions focused on Thailand’s eastern area.
“Since the air pollution crisis in greater Bangkok, BIG is prepared the remaining dry ice for immediately support in reducing hazardous dust particulate. The advantage of dry ice from BIG comes from its  ice crystal shapes. BIG will providing dry ice to DRRAA for continuous activity which aims at generate artificial rain in drought-affected areas nationwide.” Piyabut added.
Dry ice is a by-product from CO2 and its transformed into crystal shapes which can be easily and instantly used for scattering clouds in the final attack stage  of rainmaking, plus it is stable and safe for storage and transportation.
To solve the PM 2.5 air pollution crisis in Bangkok, BIG has consulted with DRRAA to find possible ways to support dry ice for this issue. The possibility is to use dry ice help create rain in the Eastern areas of Thailand and rely on winds to blow the clouds towards Bangkok and the surrounding areas. DRRAA is continuously following and monitoring the situation of air pollution closely.
